The above-referenced website quoted the ’72 Charger sales brochure: “Looking for styling that’s got motion when it’s standing still? Looking for a family car that doesn’t cost you an arm and leg to own and operate?… Look no further. Here comes Dodge Charger. And you’re going to love it.”

Offered here in homage to the third-generation Chargers is a ’72 Super Bee Tribute in “Sublime” (lime-green) over black, a high-quality, professional renovation with tasteful upgrades. It’s a genuine tribute that captures all the appeal of this historic MOPAR performance car, and its legendary 440-cubic-inch V8 “Super Bee” power. The car’s odometer shows 77,620 miles, a very conservative under-1,600 miles per-year on average since new.

The quality of the exterior lime-green paint is excellent: uniform gloss across all body panels with no dings, dents, or other damage. The visual distinctiveness of every feature of the Super Bee body “pops:” the split, body-color front impact bumper, hood pins, forward-swept roof, rear-deck spoiler, and rear bumper (also body-color-painted). Correct graphics are all properly in place including the large “Super Bee” hood logo, smaller versions of that logo on the trunk lid and front fenders, and wide rear racing stripe. “Charger” and “Super bee” emblems, as well as the red, white, and blue emblem in the center of the front split grille are all correctly in place. Black trim—including the front grilles, the side-facing hood air intakes with “440” badging, lower-front spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, racing-style side mirrors, door handles, and window surrounds are all correct and in excellent, damage-free condition. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and free of cracks or other damage. Weld Racing® Draglite polished-aluminum wheels are mounted with Cooper® Radial GT performance tires.

Inside, the color theme is black and the look is stock with added performance-oriented modifications properly installed. Seat upholstery on the high-back front buckets and rear bench is black vinyl with a vertically pleated design. Molded door trim in black adds woodgrain trim, which continues into the rear-seat area. Roll-up window cranks are mounted front and rear. Cabin carpeting is also black. A Grant GT® steering wheel trimmed in brushed metal frames analog gauges notably including a 150-mph speedometer, on the padded dash. A SunPro® tachometer is mounted on the center tunnel, and auxiliary gauges (trimmed in black) for engine water temperature, amperage output, and oil pressure are mounted below the dashboard. Instrument graphic markings are crisp and clear. To the rear of the tachometer, a handsome B&M® billet-aluminum shifter for the automatic transmission is mounted on the woodgrain-trimmed center console (which also includes a storage compartment). HVAC controls are slide-levers and a “Chrysler Solid State” AM radio is in place. The same woodgrain trim is present on the dash facing the front passenger, together with a “Super Bee” emblem. The car’s original owner’s manual—rubber-stamped with “GM Library/General Motors Technical Center” suggesting the car may well have been carefully studied by the competition—is included in the sale.

Under the hood is a sight to stir a MPOAR fan’s hearts—the 440-cubic-inch V8 (with correct orange-painted block) dressed up with silver intake manifold, “MOPAR-Performance”” forged valve covers, and Edelbrock® chrome air cleaner. Interior engine bay surfaces are painted matte-black so the engine draws the eye; the engine bay is also very clean, yet happily free of added gloss from shine-enhancing sprays. All components are properly mounted, and hoses and wiring are routed correctly. Viewed from below, the chassis is free of damage. The impressive, full-length, free-flow dual exhaust system shows no marks as might result from too-aggressive driving styles.
